Q: How long should our proposal be?
A: There are no restrictions on the length of your proposal, however, four to seven pages are typically sufficient.
Q: Our agency is not large enough to have audited financials. Will you still consider our request?
A: Yes. If you are not required to perform an audit under the Attorney General guidelines, then you should submit your Form 990 for the previous year; a current Profit & Loss Statement; and a Balance Sheet.
Q: Our agency is in the middle of our audit, and will not have last year’s financial information in time. What do we do?
A: We recognize that each agency operates differently, and that your accounting “year-end” may be later than others. If this is the case, then we would ask that you include your Form 990 for the previous year; a current Profit & Loss Statement; and a Balance Sheet. When your audit or tax form has been completed, you are required to forward a copy to us to complete your grant package.
Q: How much funding can we ask for?
A: While all requests are considered, our grants are typically between $2,000–$20,000. Please be mindful of this when making your request.
Q: When and how will we hear about your decisions?
A: Every applicant will be notified of our decision via U.S. Mail in the November-December time frame.
Q: We received a grant from the In-N-Out Burger Foundation last year as a first time recipient. Are we still eligible to apply for funding this year?
A: Yes! While there is no guarantee of ongoing support, agencies are welcome to reapply each year.
Q: We applied for funding last year and were not approved. Can we apply again?
A: Yes! If your program fits within the Foundation guidelines, you are welcome to reapply for funding each year.
Q: Our agency is not a 501(c)3 organization. Are we eligible for funding?
A: No. We are only able to consider agencies that fit within our guidelines, and are registered 501(c)3 organizations.
Q: My agency was awarded a grant this year, and would like to recognize the
In-N-Out Burger Foundation at our annual fundraising event. Can you have someone attend?
A: While we are always honoured by the requests to acknowledge the In-N-Out Burger Foundation, we must politefully decline. Part of our company’s mission statement is to "assist all communities in our marketplace", and we are pleased to support your efforts because it is the right thing to do. Agencies are welcome to acknowledge our support at your event or in print, but this is not necessary. If you would like to use our logo in promotional materials, we ask that you contact us and allow us the opportunity to review your materials in advance.
Q: Where does the In-N-Out Burger Foundation get it's funding?
A: The Foundation is supported primarily through donor contributions, and internal fundraising activities sponsored by In-N-Out Burger.
Q: Our organization has multiple needs that we can include in our proposal. Can you help us choose one of them to apply for?
A: If your organization's mission statement is consistent with our Foundation guidelines, we are happy to consider any request. While we are unable to give you specific advice, you are welcome to contact us with questions and/or include a description of these different options along with your input as to what your greatest needs are at this time.
